Drue Davis featured on Tim Kubart’s album, Building Blocks

Posted by on 12:33 am in Blog | 0 comments

Around this time last year, I had the pleasure of rapping and singing some background vocals for Tim Kubart’s (Tambourine Guy to the PMJ fans) new album, Building Blocks. Currently, the song Block Party featuring Carly Ciarrochi and I, is in Sirius XM radio’s Top 10 for Kids. Check out the entire project which includes Block Party below.

Scenes from the Sofar Sounds show

Posted by on 8:33 pm in Blog | 0 comments

The recent show I played at the Sofar Sounds office was amazing. My guitarist, Conor, and I played Magic Man, Shotgun, Don’t Dream It’s Over and got to perform a new song, Shadows for the first time ever! I always get the stomach butterflies before a show but this time, I was actually nervous. I realized that it has been a while since I’ve done an acoustic set. The intimate setting can seem a bit intimidating but after the first song I felt the warmth. It was really awesome and Shadows was received extremely well. I’m...

Reved up for Radio City

Posted by on 4:01 am in Blog | 0 comments

Last Thursday, May 3rd, I had the opportunity of rocking at Radio City Music Hall again, this time for Youtube’s Brandcast event. Camila Cabello and Ariana Grande headlined the evening. The performance was less than a minute but because there were moving stages and was part of a bigger production, it was two days of rehearsals. Well, getting the in ear monitors to work correctly, in time for the performance was “fun” but it all worked out for the actual performance. May 3rd, is also my mother’s birthday. May 8th would make 20 years...

Postmodern Jukebox West Coast Tour recap

Posted by on 5:13 pm in Blog | 0 comments

Sometimes you just need a few days out of town and on on a bus to reflect on the joys of tour life. Well, on the first day, I got to say hi to Kendrick Lamar as he entered the rehearsal studio we were in. The TDE crew were rehearsing in the studio room next to us, which I presume was for Cochella. This California run of shows were an absolute blast! It was the first time I met most of the musicians but we gelled fairly quick. Tim Kubart and Scott Bradlee made surprise visits on two of the shows and enjoyed a dose of classic Motown...

Another Super Sofar Sounds night!!!

Posted by on 4:10 pm in Blog | 0 comments

I had an amazing time performing at and being a part of this Sofar Sounds event. This time, it was at a yoga/ workout studio. It was a packed room and pretty hot (it was a yoga studio, lol). However, once the show started, it was the last thing on everyone’s mind. The artist that played were really awesome and both the energy and engagement of the audience was amazing. My friend and guitarist, Conor Moran, and I have a blast playing these events. It’s so different from our full band shows and allow us to connect in a more intimate...

Here are some pics of my band and I at my IPsoft showcase in downtown NYC. We had a blast and I, for one, was amazed at how quick 2hrs of music can go by. There’s nothing like rocking on an outdoor stage during the summertime in NYC. Enjoy!

Canadian Festival Tour with PMJ

Posted by on 2:09 pm in Blog | 0 comments

I had an incredible time on this tour!! I had the opportunity of visiting the city of Rochester for the first time. While there, I got to check out some top notch jazz performances; some featuring various PMJ musicians. It felt good being back in Canada. From Winnipeg, to the beautiful city of Victoria and the return to Vancouver. Interestingly enough, my touring journey with PMJ started five years ago, just north of Vancouver at the Squamish Music Festival with A Motown tribute to Nickleback. A handful of audience members were at that...

Jazz version of “What A Fool Believes” with my friend Drue Davis. This was the first song I heard Drue sing, way back in 2011. Since then, he’s played a big role in the Postmodern Jukebox story as the Motown Nickelback frontman and later a #pmjtour emcee....

Charging through Chattanooga

Posted by on 2:20 am in Blog | 0 comments

I had a blast in Chattanooga with Postmodern Jukebox. So much was racing through my mind during the soundcheck that I seemed to have a hard time concentrating on my songs. However, showtime (and a a shot or two of whiskey) came and I was good to go. There was such a great crowd at Track 29,  one couldn’t helped but be charged. The added bonus was ending the night with my buddies, beer and some bluegrass. Now you can’t beat...

All the Way Up at The Way Station

Posted by on 11:16 pm in Blog | 0 comments

This show at The Way Station was special for many reasons. It’s been a short while since taking the stage and it felt great. My good friends Danny and Caroline, played a really amazing set as well (CHECK THEM OUT!!). I was reminded of how powerful this music can be…and I needed to be. It turned into a dance party (in true Drue fashion) and left me with the feeling that I need to do this more often, lol. It was a packed house and the energy was incredible. At the end of the night, people came up to me and said they needed this ; how...

Cooking in the Rugged Soul Kitchen

Posted by on 10:29 pm in Blog | 0 comments

It’s taken awhile for me to write this post. Well, 2016 was an insanely gratifying year. I got to headline at the Apollo (YEAH), showcase at SOB’s, receive a Grammy certificate for my participation on a Grammy Award winning album and perform at both Sunfest Music Festival & Radio City Music Hall (!!!) with Postmodern Jukebox. Not to mention be featured on PMJ’s #1 jazz album (iTunes), Swing the Vote. However, the end of the year found me dealing with the death of an extremely close friend. In addition, I lost another...
