Drue Davis is a highly accomplished producer and songwriter who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As a child, Drue was fascinated by a variety of genres of music, from Top 40 hits on the radio to the crackling vinyl sounds of Motown and James Brown. He also became enraptured by the inspiring lyrical styles and beats emerging in Hip Hop.

Drue gained notoriety throughout the NYC scene, for his unique style and head nodding beats with a flair for blending different genres. He called it “Rugged Soul”. A talented emcee, Drue was able to showcase his vast talents in venues which included CBGB’s and SOB’s, opening up for the likes of Erykah Badu, Common, and Talib Kweli. Along with his DJ, he was featured in the Source Magazine's, esteemed Unsigned Hype column.

After years of solely focusing on indie Hip Hop, he began writing, vocal arranging, and producing for various artists. He also started producing songs for television shows and commercials. After a few months, Drue’s music landed on several highly rated cable reality shows and broadcast sport shows. He began writing more music, exploring more personal topics and issues. Using his MPC2000xl and his keyboard, he decided to embark on a musical journey, one that would forever change him.

Drue’s musical excursion, led to the release of his first project entitled, Magic Man and the Beat Machine. Fully immersed in "Rugged Soul", it encompasses sounds from the pulsating drive of rock ‘n roll to the raw boom bap of Hip Hop. Recently, he received a Grammy award certification for his singing and rap contributions to the Children’s Album of the Year, Home. The buzz surrounding his debut release, has led to memorable headlining performances in legendary venues such as Brooklyn Academy of Music and The Apollo. Backed by a band during live performances, he is sure to continue touching souls in his own unique, soulful way.
